At the Merry Family Foot Clinic our Chiropodist Julia Merry provides assessment and treatment of the foot and ankle for all ages. Our objective is to aid in the prevention and provide treatment for the diseases and disorders of the foot and ankle by therapeutic, palliative, orthotic, or surgical means.

Professionally Trained

Chiropodists are regulated health care professionals that can assess and manage a variety of foot complications including skin, nail disorders, structural disorders and and gait abnormalities. We offer a number of treatments for such conditions as ingrown nails (both surgical and conservative), warts , corns, callus, fungal nails, psorriatic nails, involuted and thickened nails. We also offer treatment solutions for heel pain, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and morton's neuroma, for example.

Our clinic has an extensive commercial department carrying a variety of specialized creams, topical analgesics, antifungal products, plus many more too extensive to list. You can see these products offered, plus many more in our product section.

There also is a department where we can provide generic foot beds, heel lifts, appliances to aid bunions, toe deformities, as well as manufacturing custom moulded orthotics by our chiropodist.

Footwear is an important part of proper foot health. At the MFFC, we carry a great selection of slippers, shoes, boots, and sandals for both men and women. Each shoe is ordered for each individual after measuring for accurate width and length. Most of the shoes are orthopaedic, offering a variety of features for the hard to fit foot.

For appointments you can contact the receptionist and we would be more than delighted to book you in at the earliest convenience.

Custom Moulded Orthotics

Custom moulded orthotics are manufactured here in Kingston on site at Julia’s orthotic lab. She manufactures each one individually with care and confidence.

Patients are booked a casting appointment and then casted in a sub-talar joint neutral position. Casts are then used for the manufacturing of a custom moulded orthotics.

Custom moulded orthotics are ready in approximately 2-3 weeks for pick up where a fitting is provided and patients are given the advice to break in slowly. Patients are then provided with a one month telephone review. If need be, patients are able to come back with any interruptions and have their custom moulded orthotics modified at no charge. This provides patients with a continuous care and relief that their custom moulded orthotics are not being sent away for production.

Custom moulded orthotics are not guaranteed to relieve patients of symptoms, but in most cases do so.

A prescription form is required for custom moulded orthotics by a physician with a diagnosis in order to get coverage through insurance companies. They may also require a biomechanical examination and gait analysis which Julia can provide on request.

Payment

Our services are covered by most insurance companies. We are a registered provider with Great West Life, DVA, WSIB, and are a Certified Civilian Health Practitioner for the Canadian Armed Forces. For those few without coverage we accept cash, Interac, Visa, MasterCard.

Since Chiropodists have prescribing rights, a Doctor's referral is not required.
